In Scottish and Irish mythology, the legend of the selkies figures prominently, the creatures who “live as seals in the sea but shed their skins to become human on land” (Wikipedia). Stories of the selkies continue to be told in songs and films, and this week we feature some of these songs from performers like Karan Casey, Joan Baez, Maddy Prior, Solas, and The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem.
